today went for guitar prac in the morning, then to tiong bahru to buy sleeping bag, then to cine to watch incredibles, then to sg poly to catch matthew in the Joseph and the technicolour coat (or smth liddat) haha. phew. tired now. jus going to slack arnd the com for a while more then go to bed.

first of all, i got tricked by mark's pizza hut trick last nite.. so that was.. erm.....
this morning we went to recce the prayer walk site.. cant say anything abt it if nt it will spoil.. heheh.
camp preparations are well underway... jus looking at the timetable makes me excited already :P cant wait for it.
came back after walking arnd, i went to sleep. at 1:10. after today, i learnt never to rely on ur biological alarm clock. cos it always spoils. i kept telling myself to wake up at 3:30 before i slept. cos got guit lesson at 4:45 need to leave latest by 4pm.
zzzz... then the colour behind the curtains begin to get dark. i rush to my handphone. 4:25. hurray. i thot i could wake up.. i mean.. what person sleeps in the afternoon for 3h straight? (me.) haiz. i noe how it feels like how to be pangsehed, so i made a vow not to pangseh anybody after taht.. but now.. :S
jus recalled.. we only have 1 sleeping bag. if u think i'm the only person in my family going for youth camp ur wrong... so that means tml mus go buy. lalala...

another bz day.
today woke up early to go for 8am. my bed seems too nice larh. haha. went for 8 am so that i can teach the last timothy class of the yr. this time i let kelvin chen try to teach a bit of stuffs. hes from china, so he gave us a list of 6 riddles to do in chinese. hahaz. well i found out my chinese isnt that powderful.
then the rain started. whoosh. had to go for a performance at Bishan Junction 8. was quite ok larh. but it had some of the worst performance features in this yr. the stage is ultra cram, and its the biggest room i've played solo in so far (!!!) so my guitar seemed softer than usual. this is a concert for parents so there was quite a bit of disturbance (ahem.. nxt time u pple go for concerts BETTER off to silent.) such as a lady who my teacher described to be rustling a plastic bag O.o and suddenly i find the lights veri dim. haha. many other small small nitty gritty details.
yeah.. and i'm back here waiting for my dinner to arrive... i dun realli have my dinner this late as night. kk... cyaz.

These few days have been quite bz.. altho its the hols haha. i spent the past 2 days at a church in Frankel Estate (cant remember the name) for a course on Character First! Education my father forced me to go for. if i knew wad the situation was like i wouldnt have signed up.. haha. i'm the only guy from our church to go.. the rest are all aunties (except for Hwee Yee). yeah.. so quite lonely. 2nd thing.. you imagine... its a course on how to teach. so...... theres a serious lack of guys. also, i'm like.. the youngest there. there are like.. so many moms there.
basically wad they teach you how to do there is how to lead songs, how to tell stories, how to do memory work, etc. i was like: 'i refuse to do any of this crap' at first, budden they can read your mind. so i find myself singing retard songs and listening to child's stories for 6h each day. lolz. but im quite amazed at their enthu level. compared to mine... hahaha. anyway the course is quite gd for learning how to teach children younger than p4. yeah.
oh and i jus remembered... i go for this church based course and you all church pple are like.. 'friday watch movie with the church fellas at 12' -.- evil tempters :P
and like our youth camp is so underway already (it isnt that lah) i receive another message telling of soccer tml and sentosa on monday!! haiyoh. i still got quite a lot of stuff to do b4 the 4 days 3 nites, for example got guitar performance tml, which i'm a bit out of practice for.

hello again. its been 2 days since i came back from phuket, and when you have onli a span of 1 week between your holiday and the youth camp, everything is jus crammed into that puny period of time.
today had triple tuition: guitar, chinese, music theory. haha. its ok i'm still alive, jus that i got a giant
bruise by dropping a weight on my foot by accident o.O hahaz. anyway, the next few days are gonna be quite bz.. got some character first education course tml and sat at kembangan o.O and sunday got guitar perf at 3:30. monday and tuesday are all the nitty gritty extra classes and then wed is youth camp.
seems pretty packed but theres lots of extra places where i can squeeze in time to prepare for youth camp and stuffs. yeah. (and to blog haha).

back from phuket.
still considering whether too keep the report long or short. ok i think i'll go wif short.
Day 1
morning went church, but my father tore his cornea so had to go see doctor after 9:30 Bible Class. The doctor told him to go to A & E @ SGH. the trip was cancelled. i went to sleep and i remember feeling quite worried for him.
2:30pm.

"you've gotta be kidding."
apparently sleep seemed more impt to me than going on the trip at that time. the flight was at 4:45 and the doctor said it was ok for my father to go. i called taxi and we went to changi, then flew to phuket, thailand. flight TG 406
we met tony our guide and he brought us to our hotel, Club Andaman Beach Resort in Patong, Phuket. first nite so we dint noe wad to expect, so we walked around on the streets and got harrassed by pple trying to make us eat at their stalls. nt veri helpful considering my father's injury.
Day 2
buffet breakfast. oh yeah. aft that slacked arnd in the hotel then eat lunch, then left for the tour. my father couldnt come along cos his eye was hurting quite badly. awww
stop 1: elephant riding
a bit uncomfortable at first (both for ur butt and ur nose) but aft a while it became quite ok. 1/2h.
stop 2: shopping centre 1
stop 3: some sorta Jewelry museum
this is some giant museum where they keep lots of jewels, and u can also buy them. but ex larh. this is a stop for pricey souvenirs. NEXT.
stop 4: shopping centre 2
bought a pair of converse shoes for S$32. nt bad. also got some small stuff.
at nite had buffet dinner. wah its so GOOD lorh. almost everything was perfect lah. difficult to describe lah. ate like siao. hahahaha. my father's onli joy during that trip probably.
aft dinner went to pasar malam to blow the last 600 baht. its a pasar malam, and i dunno why the stuff there is so ex. and my mom and sis dunno how to bargain one lorh... haiyoh. *"shakes head* but i think there definitely was inflation in prices of (pirated) stuff. my sis bought a 'handmade' pencil case for S$4, bought a 'thai silk' bag for my grandma for S$9 (china can buy for four bucks) and a pair of medicine balls for S$8 o.O in chiangmai i bought my pair for four bucks. in china can buy 1 ball for like 50c.
Day 3
buffet breakfast. oh yeah. aft that slacked arnd in the hotel then left at 10:30 for airport. slack arnd airport (wah their service is ultra lag larh) then did some last minute snack shopping 15 minutes b4 boarding the plane, then left for sg.
3:30 arrive in sg. flight TG 405
4:30 reach home.
as u can see, i far prefer shopping to outdoor activities haha. but we also couldnt do too strenulous activities cos of my father's injuries, and the short journey.
yeah... 2.5 days wif no com, guitar, and pop music. the tv there also got like.. nothing. cartoon network doesnt work. mtv is in bahasa indo.
but other than that the trip was quite fun lah. food there is veri gd. now better go and start doing the youth camp stuff liao. i'll do my best to upload some photos when i finally learn how to use hello and bloggerbot. ok cya, and gd luck to those taking their last days of As!!!

shall i estimate how much i get?
1. pieces. ok larh.. a few slip ups here and there.. but still ok. 50/60
2. scales. ok larh. the killer one was 2 octave g minor arpeggio in triplets. 11/15
3. sight reading. 4 sharps O.o well at least made it to the end. 6/10
4. Performance from memory. they edited the syllabus slightly, so that now u can play all 3 pieces from memory and they will divide the total number of mistakes by the number of pieces :PP 4/5
5. ear tests. say no more. 3/10 at the most.
est. total = 74/100
erm...... that aint exactly veri gd i think.. thats like a pass. merit is 80 i heard.. izzit?!? bah cant remember. hmm lets say the examiner was a bit more kind.. aiyah can lah :)
the examiner was quite a nice guy, and plump as usual. hahahah.. last yr's examiner was a lady and she was plump too. yeah. he was like.. 'thank you', 'thank you', 'thank you' after each of my responses, even the veri screwed up rhythm and melody recollection part. heheh.
well, this frees me from my self imprisonment of not playing any pieces other than those 3. it was jus over in 20 mins... so short. falling sick and so much stress for this.. not worth it. nvm nxt yr grade 8 or PF cert try diff strategy.
anyway, i must thank God for helping me thru this, altho so many times i have often forgotten him in all the stuff i do. so, Thank You God!!!
tml is D day. i shudnt do this sorta thing lorh. itz onli a grd 6 theory exam. overstressing myself the week b4 isnt gd. learnt from too many past experiences. achoo.
well, heres the progress on guitar preps.
1. pieces shud be ok, but i peaked sometime like.. 4 months ago.
2. scales and arpeggios... erm... they onli have 12 boxes there to 'write ur prepared scales and arpeggios', but i'm not sure if they will test onli the simple stuff i wrote down there or if they will test the full range of all 19.
3. sight reading. i'll try to keep my mind as blank as possible, so that when input comes hopefully the output will sound okay.
4. aural. hohoho. i did my first practice today. shud be ok larh.. i mean.. i done smth like it in grd 4 or 5 piano when i was preparing for it back then. seems pretty ok, altho i'm basing all my confidence on 1 practice. O.o
5. performance from memory. i'm playing all my pieces from memory. always have.
yeah. hoping for merit. exam is at anchorpoint @ 1400h hours. feel free to visit me O.O and maybe i could visit shawn, but i heard he doesnt work on fridays or smth..
today my tuition teacher came to 'check answer' for the O lvl chinese. 1st section, 2/10. 2nd section 3/5. 3rd section 9/15. 4th section 3/10. things are looking bleak. well, its a B3 i guess. lolol.

i have not always been a consistent follower of sg idol and i do not show open support for anybody, but i want sylvester to win. over the years i have become a 'feeling' person, instead of a 'statistical' person. taufik being the best singer, but i... choose to differ. i agree that olinda is a gd singer too.

this morning had some sch frens come over to play ping pong and a bit of guit. haha.. sometimes i feel sch frens are usually easiest to relate to cos they all have the same interests and intelligence level (o.O) as u. aft that went to clementi to eat MaCs and then went to jurong east wif me to collect my shortened jeans from Baleno. Baleno fashion nt bad.
slept for 3h in the afternoon (my sleep patterns are SO disrupted) then finished the tedious (and detestable) process of burning in the remaining guitar grade 6 scales and arpeggios. yeah.

yay!! today i'm especially happy!! jus came back from shawn's hse from 'bbq'. haha.. shawn wasnt at home.. working at bk. did a lot of fun stuff there. i brought my electric there and jammed. once everybody had arrived, we had 1 classical, 1 acoustic, 3 electric and 1 bass. lol. too bad they all played oldies onli.. haha. dint realli noe any of the songs. was jus reading pple's chords and making up a bass line.
aft that we went out and played games that damage ur jaw and throat for the night, cos they make u laugh so much. haha.
well.. tonite is jus a small taste of wad will take place during youth camp!! yeah.

hai. fake nail broke off. its onli 10 more days to 19 november, guitar grade 6 exam. in my opinion, i'm in absolutely no mood to prepare for the exam now lol. still got 6 more arpeggios and 2 more scales to learn and memorise from scratch. and aural. things arent looking veri gd.
in my opinion, it's too late to attach another thick fake nail or powder acrylic nail or rubber nail to try to save my already cracked nail, cos i have to learn how to play wif that bulky thing again. 10 days nt a long time. so, i've decided to jus file my nail as short as possible, so that i can play, yet pray that no accident happens that totally destroys it.
worse come to worse, jus play wifout nail. did that for my grade 5.

came back from going out wif irvin, shawn, ronald and slept from 3:50 to 6:50. ouch. tonite dunneed to sleep liao.
i think i'll make a list of all the things i attempt to do this week, in order of priority
1) Think of a devotion topic
2) Call people to do devotions
3) Practice guitar
4) do music theory hw
5) Continue doing my terrible music composition
6) play computer
hmm.. when shall i start my 2.5k word project work essay..
haha... but i'll probably end up doing the stuff the other way round.. hmm... i'm still open for volunteers to do devotions and ideas for a devotion topic.. there'll be 5 devotions and 1 prayer walk. yeah.
my new guitar is working quite nicely.. jus cant stand those buzzing sounds.. lol. in my opinion it looks better than it sounds. but it definitely is still inferior to my 1030.. hehe. so that makes a total of 3 + 1 (mini guitar) guitars in my room.

kk now the long long details. firstly, i feel a bit guilty for selling my both guits to him for $150. Guitar Workshop is actually quite a small shop at a corner of bras basah. saw their ad in the class ads this morning and called them up. the guy was like.. he took note of all the things i dint notice, and dint take notice abt all the things i was concerned abt. he was like.. "both guitars no scratches" me: ?!? "the yamaha one the action veri high (veri difficult to press)" me: ?!? haha. but hes a veri nice guy. thats y i feel guilty.. he works for his boss hu he says is "veri nice.. if it can be repaired he will buy it." so i contributed the first 2 classical guitars to his shop.
took a walk around swee lee.. and some other shop at bras basah.. but dint find a classical that cost btwn 150 - 200. so walked to davis @ peninsula. looked at their range of classical and asked to try a $180 one. turns out i liked it. haha. bought the first one i tried. i tell u.. at the shops when u are trying guitars they purposely make the lighting pathetic or smth... cos i dint realli feel any defects... until i came home. got a few damages to the fret board and the tuning machine. and there was a lot of buzzing. lol. i couldnt even spot a dent on the 3rd fret 5th string. blah. but the action is so low that the entire third fret buzzes.
after visiting guitar shops all over sg and even overseas, i find the smaller shops to have people of better character. maybe prob cos their business isnt as gd as other larger retailers and they need to grab at every opportunity. hmm. something to think abt.
anyway, the rest of this guitar is gd and gives quite a bright sound.. has an almost defect-less body surface... and its BLACK. hahahahaha.. i've always wanted a black coloured guitar. looks veri stylo, wif its white rosette and corners. oh, and it has an equaliser too. an equaliser allows it to be PLUGGED INTO AN AMP. that was the second thing i always wanted. actually in all, this guitar is all i ever wanted. lol. if onli its handiwork was a bit less shody. yeah.. but i'm happy. even so.. i cant find a pic of it.. but nvm nxt time when ya all come my hse u all can see. :P

the holidays are as colourfully dull as ever... i rem last time in sec 1 and primary school during the holidays i was jus lazing around, and watching tv. computer tehn was limited. heheh.. but now that short sightedness has stablised... can change blogskin every 2 weeks. heheh. next step.. lasik. lol. maybe the price will drop by the time i exit army.. cos my mum says thats when its perfect to go. but now at least holidays got smth to do that i can spend hours on and not destroy my body or brain. guitar!!! haha. oh and btw.. MidiNotate Composer is so addictive!! lol. its hard to believe. once i learnt how to use it properly, i've been working on my composition for O lvl nxt yr non stop. it's basically a software that lets u enter notes into the computer, and can convert ur notes to midi files.
hmm.. maybe u all might wanna hear wad i did as the concert master this year.
Concert Master:
1) tunes the ensemble b4 performances, or jus every week practice
2) makes seating plans for the ensemble
3) gets the ensemble to follow the seating plan
4) sits at the extreme right seat in the front row
5) is supposedly the
best player in the ensemble =P
6) doesnt conduct =P
Concert Master is ranked on par wif the VPs, under the Pres. (in my opinion i feel like i got demoted cos CM sounds cooler than Vice President 2 and becos of some of the other abovementioned... hahaha)
wad does VP do? hahaha... it's nt realli written out for me yet.. so i hav no idea wad i'm supposed to do. haha.
today i jus called up the guy at Guitar Workshop at bras basah. try to sell my guitars. hmm.. i asked for quite a reasonable price.. $150 for my 2 guitars.. the Thai Japanese Ibanez (made in jap, bought in thai) and wad i like to call the piece of firewood which acutally belongs to my aunt. i wanna use the money to buy a more stable guitar like a yamaha or smth.. cos my current one has lots of dents and lots of buzzing if u dun string it properly. hmm.. i wonder if the guy will accept my guitars... well i will jus have to go down and show him.. and see how lah. wish me luck =P

plucked up another big deal of courage. have u ever heard somebody walk into a barber shop and say: "i want to keep my hair long" ? now u have. lol. so she cut for me the 'chang fa xing'. looks ok i guess. in my opinion, its the cutest hair i've had since babyhood. hehe.
it seems like my character has changed the most this year haha. i'm probably expecting another change after youth camp. yeah. oh yeah.. need to find stuff to do for devotions. kk cya!!
today was a guitar day. guitar, guitar and guitar.
woke up at an unearthly hour of 8:00 this morning cos guitar lesson @ 8:30. yeah. my guitar teacher mr choo came to my hse for the first time. wad i remember abt the lesson is tt he showed me a piece called Sevilla in my book. the thing is that ACS(I) guitar orchestra is playing it too!! and this piece is a solo piece. Muahahahaha *evil laugh*
afternoon went for orchestra practice. haha.. i'm a section leader there, and i do nothing there, yet my section can play perfectly (well nt that lah.. but better than the rest of the sections, hehe). haha. tiancais.
and now the thing that everybody has been waiting for:
The Nail Episode II: The Fake Plastic Nail
ok. so happens that my hse downstairs got a nail shop lol. so i go down jus wanting to get my nail repaired after tt giant crack occured. i go down and ask for an 'acrylic nail' as my guit teacher told me to ask.. but they dint understand a word cos they speak chinese -.- yah. then one lady took a look at my nail and asked if it was fake or nt (!!!).. then i told her real lah. lol. then she gave me that 'look'. but anyway the people there were quite understanding when i told them i use it for guitar. so i jus get a glued on nail for the time being.
ok heres a interesting fact for all those physics enthusiasts out there.. now that my nail thickness is much thicker, which makes my nail harder, it is now a bit funny to play on the guitar.. and creates a different timbre (tonality).
other than that, it feels like ur wearing nail polish.

i dun care wad happened, but its over.
what is my problem lah... i broke another nail. actually this one's tearing, budden the thing is that its my THUMB nail. which takes 1 and a half months to grow. oh, and my guitar exam is on the 20th of november. wow. argh. i jus cant help it lah... its a guy thing. noticed it really tore during the last 15 minutes of the paper and it was distracting me.. lol. i wish the world was a bit more convenient for guys to keep nails... i mean.. have u ever met a guy hu went into a beauty shop to buy nail polish?!? well i have to do that cos the one i have now kinda sux.. takes ages to harden and feels terrible. i've been waiting for almost 20 minutes already.. haix.
ok enuf of this nonsense.. yah.. so exams over and can play.. oh and i must thank all those hu have been supporting me thruout this period of testing.. thanx guys!!
